Arriving in Casa Granmont you immediately feel arrived in Catalonia. Leave the main road and follow the small gravel road passing a few houses and a stream and then, driving between the wine yards, you see the house coming closer, slightly above the landscape in the distance.

The house has been completely reformed and designed to be as eco-friendly as possible using sustainable energy from the sun, recycling the water in an advanced ecosystem next to the house. The walls are made from excess clay, when the swimming pool was made and with the heating system integrated in the walls (one of the first houses in Catalonia to use this technique). You will find some excellent architectural solutions and all modern facilities you need.

The natural centre for your holiday is the big common room for cooking and eating next to the swimming pool, with a big dining table, kitchen and direct access to the swimming pool and the outdoor terrace.

Entering the house by the nice hall, you will pass the “bodega” of the house, where the idea is to organize wine tastings and of course preserve a very authentic function in the house, historically. It was where they used to keep the wine. On the first and second floor, you will find the living spaces, divided into 3 units, as the house can also be rented as apartments.

 

On the first floor, there are two units for 4 persons each. The “Rosemary” has two bedrooms, one with single beds and one with two double beds, all in light “Nordic style” and each with a balcony. There is also a fully equipped bathroom with shower and a common room with kitchen, dining area, sofa corner and a very nice first-floor terrace, view to the valley and to the castle on the top of the hill.

The “Salvie” has a similar layout with two bedrooms, bathroom, a common room with kitchen, dining area and sofa corner and French balcony with view to the courtyard. As the house is situated on a sliding hill, this unit’s terrace is situated directly on the mountain, with view to the vinyards.

 

On the second floor is the biggest unit “Lavender”, where you will find four spacious bedrooms, 3 of them doubles and one of them a single room (but with space for an extra bed against supplement).

In one end, you find the enormous common room with open, fully equipped kitchen, in one side, sofa corner and TV in the other, and then the entire facade is a panorama window with double doors, with a fantastic view over the landscape and to the mountains with the famous castle on the top. The dining table is places right in front of the double doors, so when open, it works like a covered terrace. To both sides, there are also windows, making the room light and nice to be in. The apartment has two fully equipped bathrooms as well.

 

From the house, the nearest village with a couple of restaurants, a supermarket, pharmacy and some shops is less than 30 minutes’ walk away, or 5 minutes by car. For long excursions, you can get to Barcelona or to the beaches of Sitges in 1 hour. If you want to go to the mountains, the Pyrenees is 1 hour away in the other direction.

 

In one end of the house, a kind couple live in a separate apartment. They will leave you with all the privacy you need, but be available if you have questions or doubts regarding the house or the area.
